Subscriber features
Invitations
One of the extra features weCal subscribers enjoy is the ability to invite address-book contacts to attend a planned appointment.
Not only can weCal subscribers be invited, users of different mail-programs including Blackberry users can
be added to appointments.
Selecting an invitee from the list on the calendar entry detail screen either allows to add the contact data
to the address book or, if the email address is already in the address book, opens the corresponding
Contacts information. From that screen, the regular Contacts actions like sending a textmessage or make a call
can be performed.
Notifications
Contacts that are marked to be invited to your appointment will receive an invitation in their mailbox which will require a
confirmation reply. Inviting weCal users at their weCal.me mailaddresses will result in a direct invite to their 'Invitations' tab.
weCal is specifically designed to support invitations in iCalendar, Outlook, Exchange and the devices iPhone and Blackberry.
Upload and download iCalendar files
weCal subscribers have the ability to upload to and download iCalendar files from the weCal server. When uploading files to
the server you can choose to replace the ICS file or to merge both files.
Invitations received on your regular email address can also be forwarded to your virtual me@weCal.me address.
The appointment will then be added to your weCal calendar.
Reminder alarm using push notification
To be able to receive appointment-reminders when weCal isn't running, 'push notification services' are used. This results in
weCal Services sending a reminder to your iPhone at the user specified reminder alarm time that was chosen when the appointment was made.
Synchronize with server
Appointments on the iPhone and server-side are automatically synchronized. This way your calendar will always be up-to-date.
When chosen to synchronize with the server manually calendar events from both weCal and the server will be merged.
weCal Services
Subscribers to weCal Services can login to manage their weCal calendar.
Here iCalendar files can be uploaded and downloaded and you can choose to delete calendar entries on the server.
After emptying the server database you can either upload a new ICS file or perform a synchronization on the iPhone.
Back-up
There is always a recent copy of your calendar available on the server, which you can use to restore your weCal calendar, for instance when
you have bought a newer generation iPhone but can't restore your back-up to your new device.
